Why Go: Owned since 1977 by the Holding family of Sinclair Oil, Sun Valley Resort has been well maintained with express ski lifts; marble-clad, on-mountain day lodges; and 45 holes of golf. To access the world-class amenities, many visitors braved small rooms and bathrooms in the resort’s main lodge. But not anymore.
