The Cinematic Experience at the Napa Valley Film Festival Is Only Half the Fun

The fifth annual Napa Valley Film Festival will screen more than 100 independent films and studio sneak previews at 14 venues on November 11 through 15. Fittingly, on opening night, the festival will show the world premier of Somm: Into the Bottle. The much-anticipated sequel to Jason Wise’s documentary Somm (which debuted at the festival in 2012) delves into the complicated story of wine production. Wise traveled to visit the world’s top sommeliers and winemakers, including those in Napa Valley, Calif., to un…

Arnold & Son Gives Its DSTB Exposed-Complication Watch a White-Gold Makeover

With Arnold & Son’s limited white-gold edition DSTB timepiece, the 251-year-old horologic house brings its artistry to the surface. As the name would suggest, the latest Dial Side True Beat (DSTB) presents its automatic movement (with a proprietary true-beat seconds complication that marks the passage of each second with a small jump of the hand) directly on a dial encased by 18-karat white gold. At the 11 o’clock position, the complication’s hands, anchor-shaped lever, wheels, and bridges brilliantly stan…

The Audi E-Tron Quattro Electric SUV Wants to Kick Some X

With a streamlined design focused on maximizing aerodynamics, the Audi E-Tron Quattro Concept is an electric crossover that made its first appearance at this year’s Frankfurt auto show. It is no secret that the plug-in SUV aims to take on the forthcoming Tesla Model X, and although this version of the E-Tron Quattro is just a concept, Audi says a production model will debut in 2018.

Three electric motors (one in the front and two in the rear) are mated to a liquid-cooled, lithium-ion battery pack for a tota…

The BMW M6 Coupe Is Ready for Competition

BMW has revealed the limited-production M6 Coupe Competition Edition—a race-ready version of the BMW M6 Coupe that will be limited to only 100 examples in the United States. The special edition debuted at the Frankfurt auto show alongside BMW’s M6 GT3 racecar, which will replace the BMW Z4 GT3 next year in GT3 racing and in the GT Le Mans class of the U.S.-based Tudor United Sportscar Championship.

The nearly $165,000 Competition Edition gets a 48 hp power bump over the standard M6 thanks in part to a 4.4-l…

John Hardy Celebrates 40 Years with New Bracelets

During a 1975 trip to Bali, Canadian jeweler John Hardy fell in love with the island’s rich culture and artistry. Transfixed by the local Balinese jewelry, Hardy designed his own line of handmade, Asian-inspired pieces. Four decades later, John Hardy is celebrating its inspired inception with the release of the limited-edition John Hardy 40th Anniversary Collection of women’s and men’s bracelets.

The offerings for women will include four Classic Chain 18-Karat Gold Diamond Pavé Large Chain Bracelets with 63…

Take a Helicopter to the Top of a 7,500-Foot New Zealand Mountain and Bike Down

Given its remote setting in New Zealand’s Southern Alps, it is no wonder that helicopters are an ordinary means of transport at the 65,000-acre Minaret Station resort. Given its proximity to some of New Zealand’s most varied and beautiful natural wonders, the resort was the obvious choice to host London-based travel outfitter Black Tomato’s Heli-Biking New Zealand itinerary ($9,344 per person for seven nights, all-inclusive), which promises to take guests on some truly memorable, wild rides.

Long before cli…

Wally Yachts’s Latest Sailing Superyacht Is Regatta-Ready

Known for its quick and aggressive ships, Monaco’s Wally Yachts has officially launched Galateia (the third ship in its popular Wallycento series that includes Magic Carpet). The 100-foot Galateia is the lightest sailing yacht in its class and currently holds the fastest time at a regatta in Majorca.

Like its predecessors, the boat is extremely technical and ideal for racing. Built like a true maxi yacht, Galateia is equipped with a newly designed bow thruster that helps reduce wind impact and improves the …

Flying the Incredible Icon A5 Amphibious Sport Plane over Manhattan [VIDEO]

It was a perfect day for flying. Greg Zackney—who served as a Harrier pilot for the U.S. Marines before becoming a contract pilot for Icon—powered up the Icon A5, popped open my passenger-side window, and started out over Manhattan’s Hudson River. The propellers whizzed and whirred as we zipped across the water like a Jet Ski, quick and agile, making hairpin turns with the greatest of ease. Then Zackney straightened out and, at full speed, headed directly for the George Washington Bridge. Suddenly, we were air…

Stunning and Colorful Crushed-Ice Vases

Originally published in the November/December issue of Robb Report Home & Style as “Design Seen: In Living Color”

A new series of vessels at Ralph Pucci casts a chromatic spell.

Glass is luxuriant with dichotomies. Fragile and commanding, it is born from brawn and fire, but stands so evocatively and delicately that it can soften cynics and reform bullies. It is also an act of discipline to produce. Maestro Andrea Zilio engaged in an ancestral choreography to create the Granzioli collection. The…

Tesla Model S P90D

Will the Tesla Model S P90D be Robb Report’s 2016 Car of the Year?

<< Back to Car of the Year 2016

One can learn a lot about Tesla’s latest electric sedan, the Tesla Model S P90D, by analyzing its name. The P stands for performance; the D references the car’s dual-motor setup (one on each axle), which provides all-wheel drive; and the 90 is a designation for the sedan’s 90 kilowatt-hour battery pack, which increases the car’s range by 6 percent over the P85D. That amounts to almost 270 mi…
